Andrew Mahr - Boston/New England

 

 

Andrew Mahr is an Associate Director at Bialow Real Estate. Bialow Real Estate is a full service real estate consulting firm dedicated to servicing the needs of local, regional and national retailers. We provide retail chains the ability to outsource all of the traditional functions of an internal real estate department. We are capable of directing all facets of a retailer's growth inclusive of strategic planning, market analysis, site selection, lease negotiations and coordination of the construction process. Prior to joining Bialow Real Estate, Andrew worked for a leading investment sales firm, Calkain Companies in Boston, MA with a focus on triple net lease investments and 1031 exchanges. Andrew also has a strong financial background having worked for RMC Property Group in Tampa, Florida on property tax lien acquisitions and sales. Originally from the Washington, DC area, Andrew graduated from the Kelley School of Business with a double major in Finance – Real Estate & Entrepreneurship and Corporate Innovation. At Kelley, Andrew and his team won the 2011 Stanley E. Hunt Development Case Competition. Andrew is a licensed real estate sales associate in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, a member of the Combined Jewish Philanthropies Real Estate, Construction & Design team, a member of the International Council of Shopping Centers (ICSC), and most importantly – a proud Hoosier!

Nick Kanich - Chicago

 

 

Nicholas G. Kanich is a Director of Capital Markets with Cushman and Wakefield. Cushman & Wakefield is a world-leading provider of real estate Capital Markets expertise. C&W’s Capital Markets Group provides comprehensive advisory and execution services to clients engaged in buying, selling, investing in, financing or developing real estate and real estate-related assets. Nick has been an investment broker since 2007 and specializes in urban mixed-use and retail properties throughout the Midwest. Nick is a member of the International Council of Shopping Centers (ICSC), sits on the ICSC NextGen Chicago board, is involved with Toastmasters International and is the Kelley Community Chair for the Chicago area.

Chris Folz - Evansville, Indiana

 

 

Christopher M. Folz is a 2007 graduate of Indiana University Kelley School of Business. Earning a Bachelor of Science in Business with Distinction, Mr. Folz majored in Finance-Real Estate, Accounting, and Entrepreneurship. He has been with Regency Properties since 2007 serving in various positions including Real Estate Representative, Project Manager, and Manager of Corporate Marketing. He has earned the designation of Certified Leasing Specialist (CLS) from the International Council of Shopping Centers (ICSC) and he currently serves as the Indiana State Operations Chair for the ICSC. Mr. Folz is also a licensed Certified Public Accountant (CPA) and Real Estate Salesperson in Indiana.

John Holloway - Indianapolis

 

 

John Holloway is Director of Leasing for Moorehead Communications, Inc., the nation’s largest Verizon Wireless agent with over 800 Verizon Wireless stores from coast to coast. Prior to joining Moorehead Communications, Inc., John was a Leasing Associate at Sandor Development Company focusing on the leasing and development of shopping centers in the Midwest. John currently holds the positions of IU Real Estate National Alumni Coordinator, and President of Holloway Commercial & Investments Inc., a commercial and multi-family brokerage and investment company.  John is also a former President of the Real Estate Club with serving in 2007-2008 and in 2013 was presented the Leadership Award by Doug McCoy of the IU Center for Real Estate Studies for his work with the IU Real Estate Alumni Network.

James Crowder - Los Angeles

 

 

James Crowder is a Project Manager with Hunt Capital Partners, LLC., a subsidiary of Hunt Companies, Inc., located in Los Angeles. As a Project Manager, Mr. Crowder leads and directs affordable multifamily projects through acquisition, construction, lease-up, and stabilization. Mr. Crowder has specialized in affordable multifamily finance for over 3 years, focusing on structuring and underwriting tax credit equity and debt transactions. Prior to joining HCP, Mr. Crowder was an Analyst with Bank of America Merrill Lynch from June 2010 to November 2011. While at Bank of America, Mr. Crowder was responsible for underwriting and structuring a variety of credit facilities, primarily including taxable and tax-exempt loans for affordable multifamily transactions. Mr. Crowder received his BS in Finance – Real Estate from Indiana University. In his free time Mr. Crowder enjoys playing beach volleyball and hiking throughout the Santa Monica Mountains

Matthew Gorman - New York

 

 

Matthew Gorman is an analyst with GreenOak Real Estate in New York. Matthew was previously an investment banking analyst with Barclays Capital within the real estate investment banking group. During his tenure at Barclays Capital, he focused primarily on corporate M&A and public capital raising assignments. Matthew graduated with Highest Distinction from Indiana University’s Kelley School of Business with a Bachelor of Science in Finance – Real Estate.

Deepak Hadpawat - New York

 

 

Deepak Hadpawat is a Senior Lease Analyst at Simon Property Group in Indianapolis. As the world’s largest real estate company, SPG manages, develops, and invests in high quality retail real estate in the US, with strategic investments and partnerships globally. Deepak received his B.S. from the Kelley School of Business in 2010 with a double major in Finance – Real Estate and Operations Management. While at Kelley, Deepak was a 2009 Stanley E. Hunt Development Case Study Case Competition Winner. As a native New Yorker currently residing in Indianapolis, Deepak has been representing the New York alumni at many of the BCRES’s sponsored events in the Midwest.

John Doan - Washington DC

 

 

John is Managing Principal of JPD Real Estate Investment Consultants in Rockville, Maryland. Previously, John served for 23 years as the Managing Director and Regional Manager of the Washington, D.C. regional office of MassMutual, a Fortune 100 company, and its affiliates Babson Capital Management and Cornerstone Real Estate Advisers. John’s office was responsible for more than $3 billion of commercial real estate debt and equity investment and for portfolio management of more than 100 office buildings, shopping centers, apartments, industrial property, and hotels for MassMutual, and its clients throughout the Mid-Atlantic and Southeastern United States. John also served on the company’s Investment Strategy Committee in which he helped develop the company’s commercial mortgage investment and portfolio management strategies.

 

Previously, John served for 1 ½ years as the Regional Director of MassMutual’s Dallas Regional office where he was responsible for re-staffing the office and for the company’s commercial real estate investment and portfolio management activity throughout the Southwest. John began his MassMutual career in Los Angeles where he served for 5 years as an Assistant Regional Director responsible for new commercial real estate debt and equity investment and portfolio management for the company throughout the West and Rocky Mountain States. John began his real estate career with The Prudential Insurance Company of America in Columbus and then Cleveland, Ohio after graduating from IU.

 

After Prudential, John worked as an Account Executive at Merrill Lynch for 3 1/2 years in Cleveland and Los Angeles before he began his MassMutual career. Professional affiliations include membership in the Mortgage Bankers Association, where John served on various committees, served as a course instructor, and obtained his CMB professional certification; and NAIOP where John served as vice-chair of the National Capital Markets I Forum; John also completed all required coursework for the MAI designation of the American Institute of Real Estate Appraisers. A native of Frankfort, Indiana, John earned a  BA degree from DePauw University and an MBA from IU.

Denyse O'Grady - South Florida

 

 

Denyse O’Grady has broad based real estate experience spanning 23 years in the commercial and multi-family residential sectors throughout the United States. For the past 15 years she has been the Principal of Ascendant Real Estate Group located in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, managing a portfolio of traditional and NNN single tenant retail centers throughout the southeastern United States. Aside from being a seasoned professional asset manager, Denyse’s specialties include brokerage, development and government entitlements, as well as retail site selection and distressed asset workouts. Denyse’s forte is locating real estate opportunities which she is able to accomplish by using a global approach with a local focus. Since relocating to South Florida in 2000, Denyse has continued to work with a select client group in the identification and creation of value-added opportunities. Denyse is a strategic, non-linear thinker and brings passion and commitment to her work. Denyse is an appointed member of the Fort Lauderdale Economic Development Advisory Board and is also a member of the International Council of Shopping Centers, Greater Fort Lauderdale Board of Realtors, AICPA and NC CPA.

Matthew Petra - South West Florida

 

 

Matthew Petra is an attorney with Becker & Poliakoff. He practices in the area of community association litigation. He holds bar admissions in Florida and Indiana, and is an officer of the Lee County Bar Association. He was a member of the Fort Myers Planning Board and is a current member of the Lee County Executive Regulatory Oversight Committee. Prior to joining Becker & Poliakoff, he was a law clerk with Broad & Cassel, focusing on Affordable Housing and Tax Credits. He obtained a JD/MBA at Indiana University – Bloomington in 2011. He also obtained a B.S. in Business (Finance – Real Estate) from Indiana University – Bloomington in 2007.

James Hessing - San Francisco, CA

 

 

James Hessing is an Investment Analyst with Prudential Mortgage Capital Company in San Francisco, CA. PMCC uses a broad array of debt capital sources to meet a variety of investor needs. Being on the Originations Team, James produces balance sheet loans, commercial mortgage-backed securities, and agency loans. James graduated from Indiana University’s Kelley School of Business with a Bachelor of Science in Accounting and Finance in May 2015. While at Indiana University, he was active with the Real Estate Club for four years and on the executive board his junior and senior year.

Jim Dickson - Scottsdale, AZ

 

 

Jim Dickson is an associate with Everest Holdings in Scottsdale, Arizona.  Everest is a real estate investment company that focuses on distressed and value add situations in the Southwestern United States.  Jim’s primary responsibilities include underwriting acquisitions and performing due diligence for the company’s commercial group.  Before Everest, Jim serviced international transactions for Colliers International out of their office in Santiago, Chile.  Jim graduated with a degree in Finance – Real Estate from Indiana University’s Kelley School of Business, where he was a member of the Real Estate Club and participated on the winning team of the 2012 NAIOP University Case Competition.

Tom Schmitt - Atlanta, GA

 

 

Tom Schmitt is an Associate in KeyBank's Institutional Real Estate Group, a leading real estate credit provider and capital markets advisor. Tom is focused primarily on providing on-balance sheet financing and structured real estate finance solutions for institutional clients including REITs, Funds, and Real Estate Operating Companies, while delivering the full suite of real estate capital products and services that enable clients to optimize capital strategies. Tom graduated from Indiana University's Kelley School of Business in 2013 with a Bachelor of Science in Finance - Real Estate and minor in Criminal Justice.
