What is the IU Real Estate Alumni Network?

 

The IU Real Estate Alumni Network is a group of IU alumni and friends that are active in some facet of Real Estate and share a passion for propelling the IU Real Estate Program to new levels and mentoring students.  The group is very diverse with individuals working in the Retail, Office, Residential, Industrial, Multifamily, and Mixed Use fields.  Members are also diverse in their skills with individuals being attorneys, brokers, developers, investors, owners, managers, tenants, landlords, consultants, professors and restaurateurs.  One thing that is constant is that they are willing to meet or talk and help other alumni and students when possible.

 

The mission of the IU Real Estate Alumni Network is to facilitate and coordinate networking between alumni, alumni and students, and promote the work of the IU Center for Real Estate Studies that includes the IU Real Estate Club at Indiana University.

 

Our first event was in 2010 and was held at Kilroy's Bar in downtown Indianapolis where over 75 alumni joined us along with Doug McCoy the Director of the IU Center for Real Estate Studies to discuss the future of the program and, of course, try to make some deals.  Since then we have hosted several networking events including cocktail hours at ICSC conferences in Las Vegas, Chicago, & New York along with after hour events in Indianapolis, Chicago, Evansville, IN, Los Angeles, and others.

 

We will continue to be hosting several more events including watching the IU vs PU basketball game at Kilroy's downtown Indianapolis, cocktail hours at ICSC conferences in Las Vegas, Chicago, and New York, along with hosting the annual golf outing and several after hour events across the country.

 

Our vision is to have a strong active alumni base that is proactive and willing to support students by:

  •  

  • hosting them for job shadowing

  • mentoring

  • visiting current projects

  • offering internships

  • participating in case studies

  • speaking at conferences

  • presenting to classes
